In the Dog House

Winter on the way + Matt wanting a new project = Bear gets a doghouse. Luckily, the free section in online classified gave us all the wood we needed for FREE!
All we needed was a box of nails and a roll of insulation.
Unfortunately night caught up to us a little too quickly. We'll post a finished project photo when it gets all done.
Thanks for the circular saw wedding present dad, it is getting plenty of use!

Bambie's Mom

Every day, when we get home from school, bear is on the porch to greet us. When we let him off his tether, it usually takes him about 7 seconds to run behind the house into the trees and come back with a stick that he wants to play fetch with. Last week, he was gone a little longer than normal and returned with this.
A deer leg. Good Boy.

Best Halloween pumpkin of the year.

Who has a themed party at 26??

Saturday was Matt's 26th birthday!!! So I love love love birthdays. I'm not sure why, but I really like making little parties, even if it is just Matt, Steph and I. So in celebration? of the up coming winter, I made him a little winter wonderland themed party. Yes, he turned 26 and not 6 but he still got a themed party, mostly because it was fun and partly because I got carried away at the dollar store. :)
These were the cupcakes. They are supposed to look like little snow covered mountains:)
Man, he got a whole stack of presents!!
He got New shoes from my parents. The one on the left is his new shoe and the one on the right is his old shoe, which has a hole all the way through the sole!!
He got bike gloves from Steph.
A shirt and sweatshirt from his parents. I bought the wrong size, so it looks like we'll being exchanging as they are both a little small in the arms...
If you don't stretch like that it'll fit...:)
Some Nilsen T's from me...
And the big finish. He picked this present out in September but I wrapped it up and made him wait until his birthday to open it...mean huh?
Happy birthday boy!! It looks like it was well worth the wait though...he went and got his old skis so he could try his new boots out!!
Happy, tired birthday boy!!

Lucky for October!

So some of the two people that read the first and only post I've done might have noticed I've been dismal at blogging. However, as it is akin to journal writing--which I might just be worse at, and Sibling Reports--which usually don't get to have pictures, I am going to turn over a new leaf and try to be a better blogger. We'll see.
October has been a lucky month. In case you didn't know, My husband is just about the luckiest person I know!!
A few weeks ago we went to a pumpkin festival at a local cider farm in Sandy for FHE. It was sooo fun. Yes, we felt a little weird without small children, but it was still super fun. For $3 we got hot apple cider, went on a hay ride, watch Charlie Brown and the Great Pumpkin, and entered a raffle, which out of the four prizes drawn, both Matt and I won!! Lucky? Yep! We also got to pick out a pumpkin from the pumpkin patch. It was a good little FHE/date night!
Two weeks we went to a winter kick off party at Park's Sportsman. We wandered around the store and tried to find something to spend our free $5 on, we entered the two raffles in the store and went outside to enter the radio station's drawing of a brand new ski package. While filling out entry forms, Matt sweet talked the radio girl into giving us free tickets to the new Warren Miller ski movie, a must-see for Matt. That was the only thing Matt wanted out of going. These movie tickets are about $20 each and you get a free lift ticket to the canyons when you go. So...it was like getting $190 free. Lucky? Yes he is. But I'm stealing some of that luck from him because later I got a call from the store and I won one of the drawing and got a free boot warmer. Yep, pretty excited about anything that keeps me warm!!
It gets better though! The radio drawing (for the new skis, remember?) was going to be at 5p that day and you had to be present to win, so naturally, we had to go back. We got there at about 4:50p and walked by the radio people, who looked very sick of being there, and Matt asked if they were drawing yet. The radio man looks at him, looks at his watch, and then says, "what's your name" as he opens the raffle box and finds Matt's name!! Yes, he "won" brand new skis, boots, bindings, and poles. Lucky? Ridiculously.
Lately we've been listening to the radio when we drive to and from school. Last week, Matt was driving into class and a radio station was asking for people to call in with their best hunting stories. So Matt calls in and tells about the time his grandpa caught a mountain lion, tranquilized it, and gave it a gold capped tooth. (We aren't sure if this is true, but it's a rumor and a great story!) The radio people loved it and he won Corn Belly's Corn Maze tickets!! Lucky? It's silly how lucky he is, isn't it?
Monday we went to a group FHE and carved our pumpkin!! It was awesome!!
